BEING AWAKE AND BEING WAKEFUL ARE THEY TWO DIFFERENT?
Yes, of course these are completely two different aspects which phrase can be used onto a person. Being wakeful doesn’t really boil down to being awake. Now many may think of go slow what are you saying, while some may just shrug their shoulder thinking whatever.
To be awake, one has to be fully in their conscious awareness and know what’s happening around them and also being mindful of their thoughts and acts and being completely aware of their surroundings and on what all
Is happening and their reaction to things. To reach this state one needs a night of restful sleep.
Whereas being wakeful is, we sleeping with our eyes open. In other words sleep deprived or struggling to keep our eyes open. It’s one hell of a job to try be consciously aware of anything when in a state like this. Where we are completely unaware of our surroundings. Mainly we can be in this state when sleep deprived.
Now that we know the fine line of difference, or atleast I got to know now thanks to getting such tricky titles has got me to be more in a state of being awake then slipping into a wakeful state.
When the title came to me I was in a state of being wakeful and was struggling to balance 100 things at the same time.
So when this came to me I told myself, wait a second please where did this crop up from, I need to put this down immediately. Stopping all my mundane routine I picked my phone to type the title in, instantly my mind from being wakeful switched to being awake. As I sat down and looked at the title thinking okay now what am I going to write.
Yes this is a question I always ask myself often, especially of late as I don’t want to bore the readers of the blogs as each one is looking for some piece of positive tool which they can be implemented for the day. Listening to my sons chattering on the dining table my mind struggled to be in a state of being awake and started drifting.
Later in the day as I sat, I closed my eyes wondering how to start my writing. My eyes closed, mind wandering I still noticed how my mind was in a state of being awake and taking in everything that was happening around us. From the birds chirping, dogs occasional bark, some construction sounds and drill sounds.
I sat realizing how important it is to being awake, majority of the time we are in a state of being wakeful. Reasons being we have stress, anxiety, fear all riding high waves and causing chaos within us that no matter what even after restful night we wake up feeling we are asleep. Moreover we can be preoccupied with so many stress and worrisome thoughts and emotions tyt many a times we are not being on a state of awareness. Going about the day like a robot not knowing what we are doing not doing.
This is a reason for many irrational decisions taken by us and also effect our health. Deprived sleep can bring in a lot of other issues. Sleep deprived could be working late hours, too much stress and anxiety.
>Low immunity system
>high levels of stress
>Prone to illnesses
>Mood swings
>Being indecisive
>Can lead to slipping into depression
>Indigestion
>Anxiety
>Premature aging
>Emotional binging on food
Lacking sleep due to stress, and work can be the main trigger for being wakeful. Slow down and allow yourself a good nights sleep and that too stress free.
>Consciously aware of everything
>Being mindful
>Aware of your thoughts and acts
>Working from the rational and logical mind
>Having control of any situation
>Contingency plan in place
>Exercise your eyes to release stress
>Take in the fresh air and allow yourself to breathe
>Eat on time and eat healthy
>Allow yourself a restful sleep
Allowing yourself to have a peaceful sleep, and having a peaceful day can only happen when you have inner peace. This can only come to us when we are in harmony within ourselves to everything. When in a state of being peaceful it’s easily to reach a state of being awake.
Through the process of meditation we can also sharpen the skills of being awake. Bringing in conscious awareness to everything and everyone around us. This can be practiced daily and slowly built on and instead of being in a state of wakeful we can move to a state of being awake. Through this routine we are also aware of what’s happening within us and how to address certain issues.
In a state of being wakeful we will only be running a rat race to reach the finish line and miss out on all the beauty and experiences of life. There can be huge regrets that you reached your finish line and just totally unaware of anything.
When you actually get down to the roots you will realize everything is interlinked with each other.
For eg :- lack of sleep can give you stress, in the same way stress can give you lack of sleep. The only way we can tackle all this is that we try to hold onto inner peace and happiness. Working from there helps one to chug along without much effort.
Slow down, don’t run the rat race being wakeful, bring in the state of being awake and enjoy the race.
One would rather be more aware of what’s happening within oneself then being unaware of what’s churning within.
