GANESHA CHATURTHI
A soulful understanding of why we should connect to the energies of this divine and allow ourselves to transform.
Ganesha Chaturthi, is also widely known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, though this is a Hindu festival and celebrated widely by all, let us look at it from the healing angle and how can one help themself. There is enough and more addressed written from the angle of mythology and the point of Sanatana Dharma. Here I would like to through light on how we can understand and imbibe lessons to improve and change or bring about a new persona to oneself.
As per Hindu mythology, it’s believed/ said that Lord Ganesha comes on to Earth from Mount Kailasha with his mother Goddess Parvati. They are worshipped with pure devotion and love. Beautiful songs or bhajans are sung in their praise.
Let us go a little way from the traditional reasons and bring in an element of healing to this.
Lord Ganesha is known for being a remover of obstacles and he is often prayed to before starting any auspicious work. In the same manner, he can also be prayed to as lord who can remove obstacles.
When we actually look at him each and every part of him has an important significance. Not only is he worshipped with love and devotion there is a lot of meaning in truly worshipping or praying to him. We can learn from this and bring about some significant changes to ourselves and to who we truly are:-
>The Large head – Signifies immense wisdom this is very much needed by us. As many of us choose to be ignorant and refuse to acknowledge the facts of truth and to let go of blind beliefs. One can also specify or look at thinking big and working on it accordingly. There is an ocean of wisdom out there it’s just we need to be prepared to explore and embrace it.
>Large Ears – Signifies spiritual wisdom, there are many paths of spirituality but many choose to carry their beliefs and convert them into blocks on the path of spirituality and not letting go of old beliefs this will make the spiritual path difficult as it will be difficult to embrace the new. Through the process of understanding, we can also practice more listening than talking and valuing what’s being told to us. It’s important at times to be a good listener.
>Trunk – This clearly shows and identifies the well developed gross and subtle intellect. Now when we actually try to understand the importance of this, one can start working on brining about a transformational change to oneself. We work on high efficiency and adapt to the reality of life without being pessimistic.
>Seated with one foot up crossed- this is an indication of being connected to the atman. Being in alignment with the atman helps us stay in balance within ourselves and also know what is right or wrong. This would help bring in inner peace and harmony which is very much required.
>The other foot on the ground – shows how to be effective with dealing with our world taking the right decisions and keeping oneself grounded and balanced. This is needed to stay focused and centered on whatever we choose to do.
>The stomach – This is an indication of us dealing with all the challenges that come to us in our life without being caught up in the outcome or getting hassled. One would rather be joyful with handling the challenges of life. Be it good or bad we should be ready to accept and experience the life working on removing the challenges.
>Rope – This is held in one hand indicating spiritual knowledge and also being open to learn and experience the importance of the knowledge.
>Lotus – Being held in one of the hands it clearly signifies the divine state of self-realization. As one is on the path of spirituality and trying to heal and bring themselves to their true self it is essential to understand the value and essence of embracing the spiritual knowledge and wisdom which would bring about the transformation for self-realization.
>Axe – Being held on the other hand this is sign of annihilation of desires. Desires are something that can bring about a lot of pain and anxiety to us. Through awareness, one can actually use the axe to remove deep-rooted desires which actually is creating roadblocks. This is also a way to disconnect from things that are of no consequence to us or our path.
>Modak – Bliss of spiritual pursuit, the path which can get tough or at times treacherous nevertheless the end of the path there is the sweetness of knowing the truth of eternal bliss. Another indication is the fruits of hard work or the hard work paying us with rewards which are sweet to us.
>Mouse – The tiny mouse clearly shows us that our desires, in reality, can actually be controlled and also to know how much is enough for us. By doing this we can avoid a lot of conflicts and issues in life.
>The food served for the lord – Signifies the material wealth and power. This of importance to us as we all strive for material wealth and power and some of us choose unscrupulous ways to get what we want. The world is out there at our feet we need to know how to take what we want with gratitude.
Due to these attributes, Lord Ganesha is also known as Vighnaharta which literally means the one removes blocks and clears the path. When we call upon this energy with faith and pure gratitude he does come forth to clear your path of obstacles and guides you on to the right path.
He helps in bringing in courage and strength to conquer the fears which we face in life. Through this to overcome the obstacles which we face. He also can teach us ways to be a patient listener.
Through healing and path of spirituality, we can invoke the grace and blessings of Lord Ganesha
to bring in
>Remove Obstacles – we often face obstacles on our path so it’s good to pray to him before starting anything. Be it a journey of writing an exam or doing something auspicious. One can also start their day by praying to get your obstacles removed.
>Wisdom – He is known to bring in the gifts of wisdom and also clear the path of blocks in your learning.
> Prosperity – Prosperity can only flow when blocks are removed and the right flow of energies is there so one can use the grace and blessings for the same.
Through the process of praying to Lord Ganesha who is known with million names. He is worshipped in the Far East and is also known with various names. When we put our religion aside and just look at it from the spiritual aspect and healing.
We can conquer our fears and with connecting to the energies of the Lord who is known for removing blocks we can choose to lead a happy and peaceful life. Materialistic things, power, desires all need to be kept in control and used only when needed.
One needs to focus on deepening the spiritual knowledge and gaining wisdom by letting go of anxiety and ignorance and embracing the truth and happiness. Working on transforming self and bringing in awareness consciously for self-realization.
On this auspicious day allow yourself to connect to your higher self and bring about the required harmony within yourself. It is not that one needs to connect or pray to the Lord. But one can take in the morals and bring about a change and allow oneself to evolve and let go of the unwanted desires and expectations that lead to hurt.
