Pessimism
Often we encounter these kinds of people who are often pessimistic about everything in life and also about others. There is never a smile on their face even if life is bringing about the best for them. As they wish to believe that everything is going wrong for them.
Pessimism is like an envelope or a veil that’s put on a person and they just refuse to lift it up or even remove as they are comfortable to be in the state that they are in. It is complicated and can get tricky cause on the forefront their emotion will be
- Denial
So no matter what we state or don’t state they will be pessimistic in nature as that becomes their common trait.
Before we move ahead let us understand the simple explanation of
What is is Pessimism?
A tendency to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen to them.
A belief that this world is as bad as it could be or that evil will ultimately prevail over good. Pessimism can also be seen as an attitude of hopelessness toward life and toward existence, coupled with a vague general opinion that pain and evil predominate in the world.
The attitude that things will go wrong and that people’s wishes or dreams are unlikely to be fulfilled. A person with a pessimistic personality is a person who tends to move towards being more negative—or some might say, realistic( negative view of life). Sometimes cause of their negativity they can keep drawing illness and difficulties in their life. Due to the negativity or negative mindset.
None of us are born pessimistic but over a period we can become a pessimistic person and have that as a strong personality trait. Some main reasons being:-
- External factors like society let down, rejection, fear, peer pressure, failure, loss of jobs
- Internal factors like patterns built up, issues with internal personal relationships, self-confidence, respect
- The environment includes both internal and external factors.
- Trauma or Pain which again holds to both internal and external factors.
When we have pessimism that has come genetically into us we start to act, think, and react exactly as how our ancestors would do. We would start perceiving the issues and start stating exactly the same statements which our ancestors would have said. One of the main reason is fear of being happy or acknowledging positive thoughts as a belief of “what if “?
So when such deep-rooted beliefs hold strong roots that start to branch out various fears within us it’s nothing but natural to be in a state of pessimism and that becomes a comforting veil that is easy to slip on. Even someone tries to ask us to be optimistic it would very difficult to shake that out of our space.
How can we help ourself out of being Pessimistic?
- Start off by acknowledging your thoughts and beliefs as it is much needed.
- Notice the environment and the amount of negativity in there that needs to be cleared maybe with an extraction or smudging. Seek a shaman to clear as it would be difficult to do it by yourself.
- Look at ways to replace negative thoughts and acts with positive thoughts and acts.
- Instead of wallowing in self-pity and lashing out at everyone and everything seeks help and support.
- Spend time in nature to declutter your mind space and work on bringing in fresh thoughts and positive thoughts.
- Don’t make a mountain of a molehill in other words don’t over exaggerate the issues and problems on hand.
- Be grateful for each day and everything that you have in life.
- Focus on letting go of the old and bringing in the new.
- Avoid meeting toxic people who would be happy to spread more negativity into your space.
- Look at joining meditation and yoga and help yourself channel positivity into your life.
Yes, a lot of things add together to make a difference and also creating a toxic environment. The choice is always within us and we have to see how we can help ourselves out of being toxic or negative.
So before venting out and going down the spiral of being pessimistic look at ways of allowing yourself to move out of the web of pessimism. At times we may also just refuse help or want to step out a there is no trust and we would often back off completely.
Pessimism is a choice that can be released as there is no reason for this in our life.
Blocks and hurdles are part of life it is what we do to overcome it that is important.
