Where can I find happiness?
Searching for happiness can be a pretty treacherous job. It’s like searching for the needle in a haystack.
Where is Happiness?
All I want is happiness!!
Is happiness there?
Only a lucky few get happiness in their life!
This kind of statement can create superblocks and hurdles in stopping the flow of happiness into our lives. Not that we wish to be unhappy or sad. Somehow unhappiness and sadness follow us easier than happiness.
Why is that?
The answer is simple right, we live in the past and not in the present. We forget the good time and fun times but remember the pain and suffering that we have experienced. We carry that with pure bitterness and are never ready to forgive as we are seething with anger and frustration.
When we carry so much anger or pain how are we ever going to find happiness?
Happiness can only be found when we are in the present and live life with pure gratitude and love. Enjoying every moment of it as we move ahead with whatever path we have chosen go on. Normally in life, we go seeking happiness outside our space. Happiness can’t be found outside our space.
No matter how much we search or ask for guidance, one should know happiness lies within our own space and all we need to do is go within ourselves and seek happiness out. Though it’s more like a game of treasure hunt and it’s never easy to find the best of it. Moreover after finding it one has to learn to even keep it and not mess with it.
It’s very easy to let go of happiness and slip back into a state of unhappiness. The comforting part is to go to live in the past or future but never in the present. Happiness is different for each person. Depending on each person’s perception their happiness is accepted. So what’s doable to have happiness for Mr. A will not be the same for Mr. X.
We can make happiness a part of us with some simple daily habits.
- Smile a powerful tool that we have and is contagious too. A smile can make someone’s gloomy life a tad happy too. Bringing a smile onto their face. While smiling dopamine gets released into the brain which makes us happier. It’s not about having a fake smile. It’s when you are feeling low think of something that makes you happy and get a smile on your face.
- A routine of exercise is so important and one should make it part of their lifestyle. It’s just not about getting a fit body but also having a healthy mind and bringing a balance to the mind and body. Going for a walk also makes a huge difference. Exercising helps reduce stress and also other underlying issues like anxiety.
- Avoid binging as it is bad and overdoing it out of frustration or stress only adds to the mood of being unhappy. Though some food helps boost the level of mood that is only a temporary phase. Eat right and eat consciously maintaining the right balanced diet.
- Keep a Journal and put in your daily gratitude into the journal. Be grateful for every lesson you have learned and thank them no matter how tough or bitter the lessons were.
- Sleep – Try and get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep which is much needed for the body to rest and recoup. To have a peaceful sleep try to create an atmosphere of peace. Maybe by listening to music or read something calming.
- Do some breathing exercises and practice regularly working on keeping yourself grounded.
- Acknowledging the unhappy moments will help release these from memory. Allow yourself to acknowledge every unhappy memory.
- Avoid procrastination and face whatever it is head-on. Including stressful situations.
- Declutter your space and your mind of all that is not needed and just let go of all the unwanted baggage.
- Be open to give compliments and be sincere with the same.
- Get groomed or dressed to please yourself and not seeking others approval.
- Do things that make you happy like maybe reading your favorite book, listening to some music, gardening or maybe painting or some artist work anything that would bring a kind of inner peace and happiness to you.
Next time you’re sad or feeling low take time to work on yourself. Let the pain and suffering be addressed and released which would make it easier for one to embrace happiness with ease and comfort.
Look within you to find the precious treasure of happiness which can be nurtured and tended to.
