Be careful what you ask for? You may actually not be prepared for it!
It’s very easy to often see ourselves sitting and reminiscing life of the yesteryears. Maybe even seeing others life’s and thinking, wish I can live like that. There maybe many things which we want or desire to have in life. Including
- a good partner/ companion
- Good job
- Want a lot of money
- Have a loving family
- Travel
- Live life to the fullest
- Have a lovely home
This is what keeps us going, rather these can be the fuel for the fire that’s the passion and wants that’s always burning within us and asking for more.
Can there ever be a time when one says enough I have it all?
It’s possible and also a rare thing to even say it or accept it into one’s life. No matter what one’s dreams are, it’s always easy to get caught in the world of illusions and the wants keep piling up to huge stacks. At times one can even get caught in wanting what someone else is dreaming of or doing at the present moment.
It’s beautifully explained in the Gita of letting go of having attachments to the worldly pleasures of life. Some even step into trying do this, but find it difficult to even move ahead. Nevertheless the illusions out there often make it is enticing and the desires to have it or try to explore ways to get something becomes very strong.
It’s easy to allow oneself get influenced in myriad ways, be it from watching a film to reading something. At times we want something and completely get lost in the web of confusion that we may ignore what we have in hand. Leading to chaos and confusion and ending up with a lot of regret and frustration.
The key point is having wants is good, but getting caught in the web of confusion should be avoided and worked on. When one sets goals, these should be easy to achieve and there should be a threshold which would be a clear indicator that it’s enough now. Like stated earlier it’s very easy to get caught in the greed of wants and spiraling towards jealousy and frustration.
One can can have wants and having the sky as a limit, but are you ready to go through certain tough situations to get them. Sometimes for certain wants we may reach a fork or division point. Picking one or prioritizing is very important. Working on how to say enough and putting things in priority is really important here. Wanting a windfall of money is okay, but it may come with share of problems too. Without getting into another persons shoe you can never know what are they going through.
We can work on prioritizing and putting our wants in place:-
- Make a list of all your dreams, wishes and wants
- Put strategic plans on how to work on achieving these.
- Keep a contingency plan ready just incase something doesn’t work out.
- Look into pros and cons and weigh them.
- See where you stand with the choices you make.
- Be mindful and careful of what you wish for. Remember there is no turning back from it.
- Challenges and obstacles come in, showing us we may not be doing the right thing.
- When things are not going right, slow down and step out of the situation to see what’s happening.
- Don’t jump to conclusions, once you have asked for something and you have it. Whether you like it or not learn to live with it.
- Hold gratitude for everything that you have in your space before asking for more.
One important aspect to always remember is, have gratitude for everything that’s in your space before asking for more.
Value all the things that you already have before cribbing about what you don’t have in your space.
Looking at others we may wish to have similar things in our space. But see if you are ready to go through the process of what the other person has gone through to reach where they are now.
Without stepping into the other person’s shoe we can never know what pains and troubles the other person has gone through.
Do you often get caught in situations where you find it difficult to voice yourself out of fear of being judged. Book a session @ Samskarahealing to help you build your boundaries or confidence.
