Goddess Chandraghanta
Om Devi Chandraghanta Namah॥
The third day of Navratri is of Goddess Chandraghanta. She is a fierce 10-armed goddess with a crescent moon on her forehead, which gives her the name Chandraghanta. She rides on a tiger to destroy all evil and wicked.
What to offer: The ferocious goddess is pleased with Kheer. She is known to drive away all pains.
She adorned her forehead with the half-moon after marrying Lord Shiva. She is revered by the followers on the third day for tranquillity and prosperity in life. She mounts on a tigress and is described with ten hands and three eyes. She carries Trishul, Gada, sword, and Kamadalu in her four left hands while her fifth hand is in Varadamudra. She holds a lotus, arrow, Dhanush, Japa mala in her right fourth hand and keeps her fifth right hand in Abhaya Mudra.
Through the prayer and connection on the third day to this divine goddess, we can beautifully depict with her name. Chandra means moon, ghanta means bell and her third eye is always open showing how she is always in awareness and forever ready to fight against evil forces or demons. By invoking this divine goddess, we can bring about a balance and alignment to the nurturing side and feminine energy, through the constant vibrations of the sound of a bell ringing. By working on focusing on our third eye open we can be ready to fight the demons and negative thoughts that keep manifesting in our space. Praying to Goddess Chandraghanta and connecting to her even awaken this divine energy within us and bring about a balanced life and have prosperity flow in.
