Goddess Kaalratri
Om Devi Kaalratriyai Namah॥
Saptami or the seventh day of Navratri is of Goddess Kaalratri. As per legends she sacrificed her skin color and embraced a dark complexion to kill demons. She has a third eye on her forehead that is believed to contain the entire universe. Maa with a dark complexion, furious soul, and a fearless posture. Her big red eyes, sticking out blood-red tongue and sobre on hand makes her the Goddess of death. Also, she is well-known by the names of Kali Maa and Kalratri. She is seen seated on a donkey adorning scattered black hair and three round eyes. She has four hands. Right hand in Abhaya Mudra and Vardara Mudra and sword and iron hook in the left hand.
This can clearly signify that each and every one of us has a kali Maa within us and can be awakened when need be. Maybe for the protection of loved ones or to stop negativity or any such experiences and situations. The Abhaya Mudra signifies the essence to face life with being fearless and have gratitude. Also a gesture of safety and peace. The Vardara Mudra clearly shows us that we can be more than happy to grant help for the needy and pray for their wishes to be manifested. No matter what the situation is we can ride whatever the wave of life that comes and face the challenges and help oneself. The journey of a soul is for a higher purpose and through the awakening of the goddess within us we are able to get the inner wisdom which would help us to journey on the path of self-realization. A path which is me at to be walked by all, it is just that many are comfortable in the dark and have the fear of the unknown that is the light. Allow yourself through these simple practices journey in and awaken the goddess as needed.
What to offer: Offer Jaggery as prasad to Devi Kaalratri for relief from pains, obstacles and bring happiness.
On this day, the grey color is worn. It balances the energy and keeps the people down to earth.
( please note I am putting the colors as what I have read and understand and I personally don’t follow this pattern I strongly believe all that we need is a strong intent and pure heart to awaken the divine energies)
