Goddess Katyayani
Om Devi Katyayani Namah॥
The sixth day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Katyayani, who is a form of Shakti. Also known as the warrior goddess, Katyayani is considered as one of the most violent forms of Goddess Parvati. Maa Durga is Katyayani also adored as Mahalaxmi. Katyayani was born to destroy bull demon Mahishasura. Her defining characteristics include anger, vengeance, and ultimate victory over evils. All those who remember her with a pure heart and utmost faith are blessed with boons. She sits on a magnificent lion and is portrayed with four hands. Sword and lotus in her left hands and rights hands in Abhaya Mudra and Varadamudra.
Awakening this energy within us helps us and gives us the courage and required inner strength to fight the demons within us and around us. The sword can signify to give us clarity of thought and use the words in a rightful manner. Along with stride, the path with confidence knowing that you have the goddess awakened within you. The mudras show us how we can keep ourselves balanced and in control in the worst of situations. Tue Varadamudra clearly shows that we can actually give anything and everything to our family and loved ones. All we need is love and respect and to be treated the righteous way in return. The lotus is a clear sign of the Divine spiritual awakening within us. Our journey is always to conquer our fears and blocks and have victory over them. So awakening the goddess’s energy would help us stay anchored and connected. Instead of suppressing and seeking help outside our space by awakening the divine feminine energy we can allow the divine mother to rise and nurture us putting an end to our fears and beliefs that hampers our growth towards the light.
The color associated with the goddess is Green is it signifies new beginnings. It is worn to evoke a sense of fertility and growth. This is the pure significance of prosperity and blessings.
( please note I am putting the colors as what I have read and understand and I personally don’t follow this pattern I strongly believe all that we need is a strong intent and pure heart to awaken the divine energies)
What to offer: Devotees offer Honey as prasad to Devi Katyayani.
