Pessimism
Pessimism
I am sure pessimistic behavior is not accepted and frowned upon by many. Nevertheless, we still have pessimistic behavior and it’s always around us. Whether one wants to accept it or acknowledge the behavior it lingers in the air and at times can become as polluting and toxic as one can fathom or believe in.
So what is pessimism?
The constant state of believing things won’t happen. Maybe always thinking things will go wrong or bad things can happen. This is a simple way to explain a pessimistic thought process or pessimism. The attitude of hopelessness towards life and towards the very meaning is existence. At times coupled with the predominant opinion of discomfort and suffering is all that’s there in the world.
So one may wonder if being pessimistic how does it matter or affect anyone?
The constant nagging and complaining can start putting others in a spot of being cautious around you. They would rather keep distance as they may not want to get their thoughts clogged listening to your pessimistic statements. One needs to know and understand thoughts are our powerful tool it can have good as well as bad effects to everything around us.
The person who is constantly in the mindset of being pessimistic can make it a habit. Then the first word out of his/her mouth will be not happening, cannot be done, it won’t happen. So with these kind of strong statements they build a fortress of NO around them and everything and anything that can happen smoothly will not flow smoothly.
Gradually this can start seeping into the environment space be it home or work. Your thoughts will be absorbed and starts to dislodge the flow of energy. Bringing absolute chaos into the space. Over a period
of time it can become difficult and painful to step out of such mindset and bring in optimism into ones life.
Universe’s laws are very simple and one such powerful law which I often say is
“what you wish is given to you” in other words what thoughts you sow into your mind that’s exactly what you see reaping for yourself. Keeping in mind that everything is in our hands we need to know how to keep our mind on path of optimism and not pessimism. Though both have their fair share of pros and cons.
How do we help oneself step out being pessimistic by nature?
- Bring this to the person’s attention and let he/she be able to know that they need to change and they may need help to do the same.
- Bring them to a counselor/ healer someone who can speak and help gradually shift their thought process from pessimistic to becoming optimistic.
- Maintaining a journal is much needed to help them be mindful of how they have to change their thinking and thoughts.
- The practice of certain affirmations also bring about a lot of change and help to the person. There a myriad options online or can reach out to a healer and ask for help on the same.
- Meditation is something that is an all-rounder. Joining a meditation group is much recommended. The flow of energies helps one to sort out their mind and to bring about the flow that is needed.
- Spending time in nature and allowing the fresh crisp air to cleanse your thoughts and feelings. This can help one heal internally as well bring a feel good factor.
- Pick up hobbies like gardening, artistic work, embroidery, knitting anything that can help you have a balance of thoughts and bring an overall well being.
- Going for walks or having an exercise routine is very helpful. As using both side of your mind helps exercise both the right and left hemisphere of the brain. This brings about the required shift onto your space.
No matter what, one should remember change can only happen when one is mindful and is willing to make the shift or make the change. Guidance can be given aplenty but the need to do something has to come from within. Only then can things be put into order. Once the reality is understood and steps are taken over a period of time one can slowing move from being pessimistic to becoming optimistic.
Though one can slowly and gradually move towards being optimistic and allow the energy shift to being lighter and more happier. When ones thought process changes this brings a major change to the overall being of the person.
The darkness of pessimism can only be lifted when one decides to embrace the truth.
Being pessimistic is not a crime, but at the same time being mindful and not slipping into the deep waters is much needed.
