The 9 Day Journey of Connecting to the Divine Feminine.
- Goddess Shailputri
Om Devi Shailaputryai Namah॥
Among the Navratri 9 days Devi names, the first day is the day of Devi Shailaputri. The literal meaning of Shailputri means the daughter (putri) of the mountain (Shaila). She is differently acknowledged by the names of Sati, Bhavani, Parvati, and Hemwati. She is the absolute embodiment of the power of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahadev. The Goddess is represented with a crescent moon on the forehead, trident in right, and lotus in the left hand. Goddess Shailputri is the first manifestation of Goddess Durga. She holds a Trishul in one hand and a lotus in the other and rides a bull called Nandi.
Let us now have a shamanic view of this:-
On this auspicious day let us invoke the goddess within us to bring about enthusiasm within us to embrace life as it comes and seek happiness within us by invoking the goddess and seek guidance for living a successful life.
Three The three-headed sharp weapon symbolizes the three Gunas humankind i.e. tamas, rajas, and sattva. So, Goddess Durga is considered to be beyond the limits of time and hence she rules it. … Significance: The three points of the Trishul represents the past, the present, and the future.
The Lotus flower is regarded in many different cultures, especially in eastern religions, as a symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration, and rebirth. Its characteristics are a perfect analogy for the human condition: even when its roots are in the dirtiest waters, the Lotus produces the most beautiful flower.
Lotus Flower in her left hand symbolizes detachment. This beautifully signifies that we must live in the world without any attachment to the external world. This can only happen with practice and persistence. Just like the lotus flower stays in dirty water yet smiles and gives its beauty to others. Similarly no matter what situation we are in be it murky water or a messy space. When we smile through this trying to see the best of everything and trying to spread happiness and positivity we can open ourselves this way to receive her blessings.
What to offer: Devotees offer pure ghee on the foot of Goddess Shailputri. It is believed that by offering pure ghee the devotees are blessed with a life free of diseases and illness.
Colour To Wear: Colour orange is devoted to the day of Shailaputri. It represents enthusiasm, success, and happiness.
Let us invoke this divine feminine trait within us and bring about a chance to our thinking and perceive life with the eyes of love and gratitude.
