The Importance of Gratitude…..! Can It Ever Enough…?
I sit to write this article, with a mixed feeling in my heart. Recently my younger child had to come home. His flight was scheduled to take off at 10.30am. As usual I was given the task of waking him up and making sure he reaches the airport on time.
Surprisingly he did reach on time, but the long queues at all counters made it stressful for me sitting here and for him as well. The boarding had started and he was still in the immigration queue. A lot of non-obliging passengers refused to let those who were getting late for their flight in the queue to go first.
I kept calling to check on him and as I sat to heal him and the situation. I got a clear message certain delays are meant to be and it’s divine intervention. I surrendered to this message and after about 20 minutes, when I called, he said he had cleared and was heading towards the gate.
I asked him to call once he settles in, after he has boarded his flight. Once again, I sat to heal for a smooth flight back. Usually before any travel for me, my family and loved ones, I do send out healing and blessings for a smooth travel. I was about to sit and I got distracted with something my staff asked. The next minute my son calls to let me know that the boarding was aborted.
There was a fire incident in one of the engine. Sitting miles away, I panicked and he further stated that, those who were on the flight were made to evacuate immediately. Initially I didn’t take it seriously, reason being – he often goes overboard expressing certain situations.
But this time my gut was twitching and was in knots. Later once he settled down after having something to eat. He did share the photo of the smoke coming out of that flight from a distance. He tells me “Mom I don’t know who and what you pray to, if I was not stuck in the immigration queue, I would have been on the flight and some of them near the fire have been injured, and been rushed to the hospital, I could have also been one of them”.
I sat numb, no reaction on me, all that I sat doing was giving gratitude, that what luck this happened on the ground in the airport and not mid air. Apparently even the crew were repeating the same things that god is great, we all have been saved. It was a nightmare for me.
I sat to give gratitude to the angels, divine and my ancestors. I strongly believe in signs and messages, early morning while I was doing my puja, a crow came perched itself near my living room window and kept cawing. It had disturbed me, when I tried to connect, a clear message asking me to be careful and look through the veils of illusion. I instantly knew it had to do with my loved ones.
That incident came up, which made me realize that I did get a clear message which I didn’t acknowledge. Now with all this happening, giving gratitude was just not enough for, I also sent blessings and healing to those who were injured and to their families. Later while talking to my friend, all I told her is, no matter how much gratitude I give is not enough. It’s beyond words of expressing gratitude.
I was anxious as there was no further word from airline to the passengers. After couple of hours they informed everyone that the flight is cancelled and everyone would be put up in hotels. Hearing my concern and worry, my son repeated himself saying “Mom I am okay, you need to be grateful”.
He further told me that couple of days back while he and his friend were returning after dinner, he saw a group of homeless people. In them a mother was with two small children and the young boy was asking his mother for food. My son turned to see this, pulled out some money from his pocket to give it.
His friend stopped him, saying don’t encourage them. All my son said was, we have eaten a hearty meal, while that poor child is sitting in the cold asking for food. He went forward and gave some money to the mother. The mother had tears in her eyes, and blessed my son… saying you are kind soul.
Now my son reflected on this, as he kept saying be grateful, he also said we should learn to count our blessings too. We never know how and when it will come to protect us. As a mother I am anxious and worried all I want is him to reach home safe and sound. At the same time I am also aware that he is protected and he has his angels and guides with him.
At a time like this all I can sit to do is pray and give gratitude. It so happens that I had also started the 21days gratitude blessings. I have always told my clients as well students have gratitude and stay in a space of being grateful for all that you have. Never crib and nag about not having a particular thing in your life.
Gratitude is such an important and powerful tool to have as well as use, I have seen it opening many doors and bringing many opportunities my way as well as my loved ones.
I would like to pen-down some important points of gratitude.
- Sitting with gratitude helps in better physical health.
- Helps us get good sleep at night.
- Helps with keeping ourselves balanced and having good mental health.
- Improves Self-esteem
- Boosts one’s confidence
- Strengthens one’s will power
- Promotes self-love
- Improves Relationships
- Helps one work through stressful events.
- It brings about peace, and happiness and also can keep one feel optimistic in life.
- Lowers anxiety
- Can bring about a calming effect.
I would vouch for all of the above. When I sit to give gratitude there is an instant change in my aura as well I can feel the peace settling in. At times one may feel is it okay to be grateful. Can it be an act of selfishness?
No it’s definitely not, being grateful for all the things that happens in your life is important. It’s not about being selfish, we can never know when things can go south or have something untoward happen. In the process of working with gratitude at times, we do ward of certain situations as well as we get protected.
Writing about gratitude, I again send out gratitude to the universe, I am grateful for been given the nudge to write about this incident. I am hoping and praying that someone might read this at the right moment that they really need and choose to sit to give gratitude for being protected.
A lovely way to start your day is, to sit with gratitude.
I am happy and peaceful, because I sit with gratitude on daily basis.
Living a life full of humility and being grounded would help one to move into a space of having gratitude.
The right kind of attitude to have, is gratitude.
As we express our gratitude we should also be aware to live by them and appreciate the same.
