What Kind of Trauma is Trauma…(II)
This is my continuation of what I have spoken about in my previous blog about trauma. It’s such a complex subject so much to understand and speak about. Nevertheless each and every individual goes through a certain phase and depth of trauma. Due to various situations and conditions.
At times the word trauma is very callously attached to certain situations and life incidents. Not understanding what trauma is and how not to use such words and create a situation with delusions. What we need to know is the true meaning of trauma and if really you or someone has gone through some kind of situation which could be called trauma.
Childhood trauma is more chaotic and has many small thresholds which eventually sparks bigger triggers in an adult.
Should a trauma be worked with or dealt with?
Of course! There is no other way to look at it. You can’t say let things be and allow everything to go back to what you feel is normal. If you have been bullied, ragged or put down it’s important to address it, speak about it.
Unfortunately much of childhood trauma can come from school, peers, and home front too. Nevertheless it’s not something to be taken lightly. You can never know the degree of what a person has gone through. But at the same time trying to ignore it is never advisable and should not be done.
It’s always good to speak about it and not shy away. The first step towards addressing it is to acknowledge and accept the fact that you have gone through a trauma. It’s absolutely irrelevant what others have to say or think. It’s all about knowing and understanding that it needs to be addressed and not pushed aside.
Like I stated in my earlier blog, trauma can happen to anyone and anywhere. It can get embarrassing and also to the point sometime the person may relive the trauma time and again running it in the mind. Everytime that happens the body will give the signals thinking it’s actually experiencing the same thing again and again.
So now how does one work with and look at dealing with trauma. In my previous blog I have spoken about the ways to work on emotional trauma.
Here let me talk about trauma as a subject and how to work on it?
- Addressing and Accepting the trauma is the first step.
- Find a safe environment to open and be yourself.
- Look at ways that would help you heal the trauma.
- Remember a trauma cannot be healed in one session. It takes multiple sessions to help one overcome the trauma.
- Write or journal your thoughts to help you release the the pent up emotions.
- Sometimes painting and dancing help too.
- Seek professional help from a counselor and a healer it would be needed.
- Don’t sit in a space of denial.
- Speak about it, share your experiences so that you can help someone else who is going through something similar.
- Join a support group it helps big time to know you have others looking out for you.
Know and understand it’s okay if you have had a trauma ( I don’t mean it in a callous or demeaning way), many people go through it. So don’t shy away or make it a taboo it’s not something to ignore. Speak about it and don’t ignore it. At the same time don’t ride the wave of trauma and make it difficult for others. It’s not worth it.
People will move on, no one has patience to go though the pain you may inflict because of what you have gone through. It’s always about sitting and acknowledging and working on things. Nothing like a tomorrow or I don’t have the bandwidth to do it. Everything is possible all you need is to set your intention to work on it.
Avoid procrastination with your trauma, look at being resilient and move on.
Life throws us problems and situations it’s all about knowing how to perceive it and accept it.
The first step to healing in a trauma is to acknowledge that you are in a space of trauma or have been in trauma.
